Description
THE DEVIL'S PUNCH BOWL During the Union occupation of Natchez Mississippi up to 110,000 freed slaves died in Union concentration camps there. They were forced to live in the camps and be subjected to hard labor during their captivity. They were never allowed to leave even though they had been freed from the plantations. They went from one horrific oppression to another. When these slaves died in the camps the Union soldiers told them to bury them where they drop. Today there are wild peach groves growing in the same area with the biggest most beautiful peaches but the locals won't eat them because they know what the fertilizer is. A Well Developed Root System is about this little known chapter of American history.
A well developed root system is a statement about racism in America. Certainly about the history of our country in abstract political terms.(The water mark will not appear on any purchased prints)
